Rob Trygg

You have probably heard his name. You have definitely heard his voice. Rob Trygg is one of the premiere voice, imaging and production talents in the entire industry. You have heard his voice imaging for your favorite concerts, events, movies and more. You have also heard Rob’s voice on every television station in Arizona and nearly every radio station.

Rob is an Arizona boy, graduating from Saguaro High before landing his first job in radio at Scottsdale’s KOPA in 1983. The name Rob Trygg is most associated with the glory days of KUPD when it was named “America’s Rock Station of the Year”, but before and after he worked at KDKB, KZRX, KZON, KMLE, KOOL and most recently, he voiced The Peak, KPKX. Rob is also a successful commercial actor for radio, television and stage.

It was 1980 at a Tempe roller skating rink where Rob and Dave first became friends, before either broke into Arizona radio. Rob worked behind the rental counter as a skate boy. Dave was the rink disc-jockey. They made each other a promise. “Whoever breaks into radio first will help the other .” Pratt broke in first, and Trygg has been bugging him ever since. In fact, they were in each other’s weddings and whether they were with the same station or not, they have worked together daily for over 30 years. Dave jokes, “I call him the human boomerang. I keep throwing him a hard as I possibly can, but he keeps coming back. I can’t get rid of him.”

Truth is, Rob Trygg has won many industry awards, earning his own reputation and success. Rob married Laurie in 2006, and guess who served as Best Man? We all would have paid to hear that toast.
